Situation
A clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company seeking to support both their QC lab as well as their GLP bioanalytical services lab (PK, ADA, Method Dev) was facing a serious situation. The LIMS that was currently being used was quickly coming to its end of life and the organization needed to find a new, better Laboratory Informatics solution.
The company quickly came to realize that knowing what it had to do and doing it were two completely different things. Some felt that a new LIMS would be best while others felt an ELN would better serve their particular needs while yet another faction just wanted to keep what they had and already knew.
The company also realized that while it would be best if a single solution could be selected to support all its diverse laboratory and data needs, they really didn’t know how to systematically go about determining what was the best solution for them and then selecting the best vendor/product.
