LIMS Selection at a
Contract Research
Organization
Case Study Request
Situation
A leading Canadian Contract Research Organization (CRO) that has been providing research services to its pharmaceutical and biotech clients and partners had elected to integrate its service groups to improve client satisfaction and improve operational and lab efficiency. One of the groups was running a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) but it had, for some time, not truly been satisfying that group’s sample management needs. A second group was operating mainly on paper and MS Excel spreadsheets. It was clear the LIMS solution would not be able to support the new, integrated organizational desire of having the second group and a newly created third group integrated and supported within the same LIMS solution.
The CRO needed to find a new LIMS that would support the various needs of the organization now and into the future. In order to support their partners/clients and the new organization, the CRO needed to select a new LIMS. CSols, Inc., the premier laboratory informatics consultancy in North America, was engaged to assist the client with selecting a new LIMS that would be able to support the 3 groups’ needs and requirements. CSols was selected based on our informatics and domain expertise and our track record of successful LIMS selection projects for clients supporting biopharma industries.
